The government has allocated a budget of NPR 18 billion 50 crores for the reconstruction post disasters. This information was presented by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Vishnu Poudel on Tuesday. The budget for the upcoming fiscal year will be directed towards rebuilding private residences, schools, public infrastructure, archaeological and cultural heritage sites that have been damaged by earthquakes and monsoon-related disasters.
In addition to this, he mentioned that there will be a focus on developing an early warning system for disasters to minimize damage. Empowering the capacity of communities involved in disaster management and response, and promoting the adoption of sustainable and secure technologies were also highlighted as key areas.
Representative Ramesh Khatri from Kansai Nepal News shared his opinion on the news, stating, “Protecting assets from damages caused by natural calamities, disasters, and accidents will expand the scope of insurance coverage. Insurance companies will be directed to extend their reach to rural areas. Cybersecurity insurance services will be operationalized. The arrangement of reinsurance will be done for the possible risk management of deposits and loan security funds.”
