126 students returned from a study trip to KAIIT.

In a recent incident at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha, India, a group of 126 Nepalese students, led by Raksoul Naka, have returned to Nepal to their homeland. This return was prompted by the unfortunate demise of Nepalese student Prakriti Lamsal at KIIT, which raised concerns about the safety of Nepalese students studying there.

Upon their return, the students shared their experiences of alleged threats and mental harassment by the administration at KIIT, which led to their decision to come back to Nepal. The District Administration Office in Parsa was informed today by the Chief District Officer Nishan Raj Gautam that 103 male students and 23 female students had returned.

The students claim that the administration at KIIT subjected them to threats and mental torture, prompting their departure. In response to these allegations, the All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union (Revolutionary) organized a protest today from the Indian Consulate in Birgunj to Ghantaghar Chowk, demanding justice for the deceased student Prakriti Lamsal.

Opinion from Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News: “The safety and well-being of students, especially those studying abroad, should be a top priority for educational institutions. It is concerning to hear about the alleged mistreatment of Nepalese students at KIIT, and it is crucial for authorities to investigate these claims thoroughly to ensure the protection of all students.”
