Janakpurdham: In a move to protect the health of children from the harsh cold, 14 local levels in Mahottari have granted winter vacation in community and institutional schools.
The winter break has been granted in schools to prevent children from adverse health effects when they come to school in the cold weather. Manara Siswa Municipality has declared winter vacation from Magh 24 to 29, Pipara Rural Municipality from Pus 22 to 29, Mahottari Rural Municipality from Pus 24 to 26, Ekadar Village Municipality from Pus 24 to Magh 1, Jaleshwor Municipality from Pus 23 to 29, Bhagaha Municipality from Pus 24 to 29, Matihani Municipality from Pus 22 to 29, Loharpatti Municipality from Pus 22 to Magh 1, Balwa Municipality from Pus 23 to 29, Samsi Rural Municipality from Pus 24 to 29, Sonama Rural Municipality from Pus 24 to 29, Aurahi Municipality from Pus 25 to 29, Ramgopalpur Municipality from Pus 24 to 29, and Bardibas Municipality from Pus 25 to 29.
Some municipalities have arranged communal bonfires for daily heating due to the cold weather and have set up group shelters (heatable shelters) in various locations for those who need to leave their homes for different reasons.
Bardibas Municipality, along with Ramgopalpur Municipality, and some other local levels have initiated the provision of shelters for the homeless, while in some municipalities, the provision of shelters has been delayed, as reported.
