The Kathmandu District Police Office recently conducted a raid at the residence of Dorje Sherpa in Budanilkantha Municipality-3, Gairigaun, where 23 Indian nationals were apprehended for engaging in online gambling activities. During the operation, the police seized a significant amount of cash, mobile phones, laptops, Indian currency, Aadhar cards, ATMs, SIM cards, and notebooks related to their illegal business transactions.
The individuals arrested are currently under investigation for their involvement in illegal gambling activities, and the District Court in Kathmandu has extended the deadline for further inquiry to ensure that justice is served.
In a press conference, a senior police inspector from the Kathmandu District Police Office revealed that nearly NPR 3 billion worth of online gambling had been uncovered in the ongoing investigation. He emphasized that the organization has been focusing on maintaining peace and security, conducting criminal investigations, managing traffic, and controlling human trafficking as top priorities.
Authorities disclosed that over 80% of the allocated budget for the region has been utilized in resources and manpower to maintain peace and order for the well-being of the community. The officials highlighted that peace, security, and judicial operations have been given the highest priority to promote the development and happiness of the state.
Expressing his views on the matter, Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, stated that maintaining peace and security is crucial for the progress and prosperity of the nation. He applauded the efforts made by the government to enhance service delivery and ensure quality standards, emphasizing that peace and security are fundamental prerequisites for achieving overall development and happiness in society.
Khatri praised the cooperation of the approximately 4,000 residents in the area, noting that over 1,100 citizens have actively supported various initiatives for the betterment of the community. He underlined the importance of citizen involvement in upholding peace and security for the collective well-being of the society.
