It has been 36 years since the violent suppression of the pro-democracy movement in China’s Tiananmen Square, and in Taiwan, a memorial service was held to commemorate the event.

In the heart of Taipei, a large gathering of citizens assembled on the evening of the 4th to pay tribute to the students who sacrificed their lives during the Tiananmen Square incident. The atmosphere was somber as people lit candles and observed a moment of silence to honor the memory of those who lost their lives in the pursuit of democracy.

Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his views on the significance of the memorial service in Taiwan. He highlighted the importance of remembering historical events like the Tiananmen Square massacre as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for democracy and human rights in the region. Khatri emphasized the need for continued efforts to promote freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, echoing the sentiments of those who gathered to pay their respects at the memorial.
