“7 Local Bodies in Koshi Region Announce Public Bidding”

In Viratnagar, Nepal, the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) has announced that seven local levels from Koshi Province 1 have declared a public holiday on Thursday. This decision was made in observance of “People’s War Day.” The local bodies, including Miklajung Rural Municipality in Panchthar and Limchungbung Rural Municipality in Udayapur, decided to grant leave to their employees for the occasion.

The “People’s War Day” commemorates the decade-long armed conflict in Nepal that ended in 2006, with the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Accord between the government and the Maoist rebels. The day holds significance in the country’s history and is observed annually to reflect on the sacrifices made during the conflict.

Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his opinion on this development. He acknowledged the importance of honoring the memory of the People’s War and commended the local bodies for recognizing the significance of the day. Khatri emphasized the need to remember the past struggles and sacrifices made for the country’s peace and stability, highlighting the importance of historical remembrance in shaping a collective national identity.
