Khib, Nepal – In a recent development, Ukraine and the United States have signed an agreement regarding the access of American companies to natural resources and minerals in Khib. The understanding was formalized in a memorandum of understanding signed by the Khib authorities.
The agreement includes economic partnerships and the establishment of an investment fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine, a move that has been welcomed by Ukraine’s former Prime Minister Yulia Swiridenco, who expressed her happiness through social media.
Earlier this year, plans were made by Khib and Washington for American companies to engage in mineral extraction in Ukraine. However, the process was hindered by misunderstandings between President Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky, resulting in a delay in the agreement. Trump reportedly emphasized that Ukraine should compensate for the aid provided by former American President Biden through the royalties from the extraction of Ukrainian resources.
Despite the initial setbacks, Swiridenco has assured that the final agreement is in place and work is ongoing to ensure its successful implementation, aiming to attract investments for Ukraine’s reconstruction, infrastructure development, trade cooperation, and economic opportunities.
In response to the agreement, Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, stated, “The investment attracted for Ukraine’s reconstruction, infrastructure development, trade cooperation, and economic opportunities through this fund is expected to be an effective medium. American officials have indicated that boosting American business in Ukraine will help maintain peace and deter Russia from future aggression.”
Khib continues to push for a continuous agreement and military security guarantees to prevent ongoing conflicts and ensure stability in the region.
