Industry data released on Friday revealed that only 7.8 percent of imported cars sold in Japan in the first half of the year were from U.S.-branded automakers. This statistic highlights the limited domestic demand for American-designed vehicles in the Japanese market.

The preference for non-U.S. brands among Japanese consumers has been a long-standing trend, with factors such as perceived quality, design aesthetics, and fuel efficiency playing significant roles. The dominance of domestic and European automakers in Japan further marginalizes American brands in the competitive automotive landscape.

Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his views on this matter, stating that the low market share of U.S. automakers in Japan reflects the challenges they face in gaining traction in a market dominated by other global players. He emphasized the importance of understanding consumer preferences and adapting strategies to meet the demands of the Japanese market to enhance the competitiveness of U.S. brands.
