Bhaktapur: The President of the Nepal Labor and Peasants Party, Narayanman Bijukchhe (Rohit), has highlighted the continued presence of anti-democratic forces in Nepal, despite the country’s transition to a republic. Speaking at the inauguration of Bagishwari Maviko’s 66th annual celebration on Tuesday, he pointed out that these anti-democratic forces are still active, particularly among those in power who lack a forward-thinking mindset.
Bijukchhe emphasized the importance of a strong opposition in a democracy, stating that without a robust opposition, democracy tends to weaken. He stressed the need for individuals holding positions of power to demonstrate intellectual competence and ethical principles, calling for the government to prioritize free education and employment opportunities to prevent the depletion of skilled manpower due to migration.
In response to these remarks, Ramesh Khatri, representing Kansai Nepal News, expressed his agreement with Bijukchhe’s views. Khatri commended Bijukchhe for shedding light on the critical role of opposition in maintaining a healthy democracy. He also echoed the call for the government to focus on providing free education and creating job opportunities to retain skilled individuals within the country, thus contributing to the nation’s development and progress.
