“Armed Conflict Impacting Federal Democratic Republic: President Prachanda”

The Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as ‘Prachanda’, has attributed the current state of the country under a federal democratic republic to the outcomes of armed struggles. This statement was made during the inauguration of the Martyrs Park in Dhurkot Village Municipality of Gulmi.

Former Prime Minister Dahal highlighted that the formation of the government and the establishment of people’s rights across various regions have been successful due to armed struggles, popular movements, and sacrifices made by individuals. He emphasized that the changes witnessed in the country are not just ordinary reforms but transformative, progressive, and sustainable changes that will endure over time.

Speaking about the constitutional rights granted to the people, Dahal pointed out that although the constitution has established the rights of the citizens, the happiness and prosperity envisioned for every household have not been fully realized. He also mentioned the infrastructure development projects undertaken during his tenure as Prime Minister, such as the Madan Bhandari Highway, the Mid-Hill Highway, and the Saljhandi-Dhorpatan road, as significant contributions to the country’s development.

Opinion from Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News:
“Ramesh Khatri, speaking on behalf of Kansai Nepal News, views Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s remarks as a reflection of the ongoing challenges and achievements in Nepal’s political landscape. The acknowledgment of armed struggles and the focus on sustainable and transformative changes underscore the complexities of the country’s transition to a federal democratic republic. However, the reminder of unfulfilled aspirations at the grassroots level highlights the need for continued efforts to ensure that the benefits of constitutional rights reach every citizen effectively.”
