The Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, emphasized the significant role of arts and culture in the economic and social development of Nepal, highlighting them as the pride of the nation.

The International Tourism Fair ‘Himalayan Travel Mart (HTM)’ was inaugurated on Tuesday in collaboration with various private sectors such as Nepal Tourism Board, Yeti Airlines, and other entities. Minister Pandey stressed the importance of enhancing the country’s tourism sector through the promotion of arts and culture to support economic and social development.

Deepak Raj Joshi, the Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board, emphasized that Nepal offers excellent opportunities for nature-based tourism, stating that the country’s cultural and biological diversity are also key attractions for tourists.

In a bid to boost tourism in Nepal, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Nepal Chapter and Nepal Tourism Board organized the Mart, with participation from over 700 delegates, including tourism professionals and stakeholders from more than 30 countries and 100 overseas buyers. Major tourism associations, organizations, and national and international partner institutions, including Nepal Airlines, collaborated in hosting the event.

The Mart featured a conference with more than 20 national and international speakers discussing spiritual, adventure, luxury, eco, contemporary market trends, current issues, and emerging opportunities in tourism. Furthermore, over 60 buyers and 65 sellers from the United States, Europe, Australia, South Africa, Russia, and the Asia-Pacific region, including Nepal, India, Bhutan, China, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, participated in the event to explore business opportunities.
