The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Australia is gearing up for its upcoming term (2025-2027) elections with the announcement of candidates drawing near. Scheduled for July 26, the election has sparked intense interest among aspirants vying for positions from the central office to various state units, initiating their campaign trails.
So far, two individuals have declared their candidacy for the position of NRNA Australia’s president. The current General Secretary, Santosh Kunwar, has announced his candidacy for the president’s role, citing over a decade of dedicated service within NRNA.
Kunwar highlights his accomplishments during his two-year tenure as the General Secretary, emphasizing achievements such as successfully organizing the Nepal Festival in Sydney, acquiring the NRNA building in Sydney, and registering the NRNA Australia Foundation. He also aims to double the previous donation amount of one million dollars in the upcoming term and plans to strengthen ties with Nepal.
Furthermore, Sanjeev ‘Gorkhali’ Dhakal has thrown his hat into the ring for the presidency, focusing on empowering students, women, youth, and regional communities to amplify their voices within the organization. Dhakal has initiated his electoral campaign for the NRNA Australia president position from Darwin.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, views the upcoming election within NRNA Australia as a crucial moment for the organization’s future. He emphasizes the need for strong leadership and community engagement to drive the association towards greater success and impact.
