After an extensive investigation, the police have arrested a brother named Kancho in Lalitpur for the alleged murder of his 11-year-old sister from their home in Bhagwati Bohara, residing in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-12, Mangalbazar. The investigation into the incident of the demise of Durga Bohara, the 11-year-old daughter who had gone missing, led to the arrest of her brother. The Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range Teku has made public the details of the incident after taking him into custody for further investigation.
According to Superintendent of Police Angur Jisi, on the night of Chait 4, a missing person report was filed at the Lalitpur District Police Office, leading to a search operation in the old house of Baburaja Awale in Khapinchhen, where Durga’s body was discovered in a water tank with cement covering. The investigation revealed that Durga’s 15-year-old sister was duty-bound and committed the murder, leading to the arrest of Kancho on May 1 in Mangalbazar and handing him over to Lalitpur police for further action.
In the process of search and investigation, it was found that the water tank where Durga’s body was found was covered with unused cement made under the fifth floor of Awale’s house. After the death of the deceased and relocation of the family to a rented place by Baburaja Awale, the house remained unoccupied. The police also stated that on Chait 4, Awale went to the house where the deceased and her brother had been living in the first rented room and left, as seen in CCTV footage retrieved by the police.
Upon questioning the brother-sister interactions captured in the footage, it was revealed that the brother asked the sister to go buy some clothes, but an altercation ensued leading to physical violence. The investigation disclosed that in the scuffle, the brother assaulted his sister with a rope, causing her to fall into the water tank and drown.
This tragic incident revealed that on Chait 4, the siblings had taken a sedative tablet, and due to its effects, the brother’s actions were a result of his altered state. After recovering from the effects of the sedative on Chait 5 morning, he realized the attack on his sister and discovered her lifeless body in the water tank. The police have confirmed this information and the details of the incident, highlighting the unfortunate demise of the sister and the disturbing events that unfolded.
**Opinion from Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News**: “This is a heartbreaking incident that sheds light on the importance of mental health awareness and the consequences of drug consumption. It is essential for families to provide support and guidance to prevent such tragedies.”
