A two-day-long apple festival concluded in Dhanusha on Monday. The event, named ‘Chitrapur Apple Festival Celebration 2082,’ was organized in Chitrapur Municipality-1 with the aim of promoting local apples, marketization, and tourism development.
Over 20,000 visitors and more than NPR 10 million in business transactions were reported during the festival, as shared by Pradeep Mahato, the coordinator of Chitrapur Mango Agro Tourism Board.
The festival, themed ‘Sweetness of the Terai, Apples of Chitrapur,’ showcased over 40 different varieties of apples and various products made from apples. It also featured programs for school students to learn about different apple varieties, interactive sessions with agriculture experts, and cultural presentations.
Previously, the festival was inaugurated by Ramchandra Mandal, the Speaker of Province 2. Various varieties of apples, pickles, candies, vinegar, and juice were displayed and sold at the festival, as informed by board member Fulgen Mahato Magahi.
Spread over an area of more than 300 hectares, Chitrapur Apple Farm has been collaborating with farmers since last year to develop apples and organize festivals for marketization.
Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News, noted that the apple festival in Chitrapur serves as a significant platform not only for promoting local produce but also for boosting tourism and economic activities in the region.
