In a recent press conference held by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun on the 21st, it was announced that China has decided to impose sanctions on US federal lawmakers, government officials, and NGO leaders whom they have deemed to have displayed a “malicious attitude” towards the Hong Kong issue.
The move comes as tensions between China and the United States continue to escalate over various issues, including Hong Kong’s autonomy and human rights concerns. The Chinese government has accused the sanctioned individuals of interfering in China’s internal affairs and undermining the “one country, two systems” principle that governs Hong Kong’s relationship with mainland China.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, commented on the situation, stating that the decision to impose sanctions reflects China’s firm stance on protecting its sovereignty and national interests. He emphasized the importance of diplomatic dialogue and mutual respect in resolving conflicts between nations, urging both China and the US to seek peaceful solutions through constructive engagement.
