The Chinese Ministry of National Defense announced on the 28th that a naval fleet including the aircraft carrier “Shandong” and missile destroyer will be visiting Hong Kong from July 3 to 7. The visit is scheduled to coincide with the anniversary of the handover of Hong Kong from the UK to China on July 1, with the aim of fostering patriotism towards China.

The fleet’s visit to Hong Kong serves as a symbolic gesture to commemorate the return of the region to Chinese sovereignty. The presence of the aircraft carrier and missile destroyer highlights China’s growing naval capabilities and its commitment to safeguarding its territorial interests.

Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, views this naval visit as a strategic move by China to assert its maritime presence in the region and demonstrate its military strength. He believes that such actions could potentially escalate tensions in the South China Sea and draw international attention to China’s expanding naval power.
