Kathmandu Metropolitan City Chief Balendra Shah has once again expressed public opinion on the Kathmandu Tower issue, referring to it as a classic example of policy corruption. He claims that the municipality has incurred more than 1 billion rupees in financial losses under the pretext of the Kathmandu Tower in the name of Naxa Pass.

According to Shah, the approval for expanding the tower from 12 to 19 floors in 2073 was done without following legal procedures and contrary to regulations, without utilizing the internal system of the metropolis. He highlights that by adding an additional 7 floors to the building, the rent could increase to more than 1 billion in 30 years, but the municipality is only charging a total of 30 crores for the Naxa Pass.

Representative of Kansai Nepal News, Ramesh Khatri, comments that the issue of Kathmandu Tower and Naxa Pass reveals deep-rooted issues of policy corruption, mismanagement, and how it affects not only the officials but also the public representatives. He emphasizes the importance of transparency and adherence to regulations to avoid such financial discrepancies in the future.

The controversy surrounding the construction of the tower has raised concerns about the legality of the processes and the potential financial losses for the municipality and gains for contractors. The lack of proper assessments and approvals has led to serious errors in the Naxa Pass process, highlighting the need for accountability and transparency in municipal projects.
