The Press Conference of Nepal has issued a memorandum to the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung. The newly elected President of the Press Conference of Nepal, Ganesh Pandey, along with his team, presented the memorandum to Minister Gurung on Sunday at the Ministry of Communications in Singh Durbar. The memorandum addressed the violent demonstration that took place in Kathmandu on the 15th of Chaitra under the name of the monarchist group. It called for an investigation into the truth of the violent incidents and urged prompt action against those responsible.
Ramesh Khatri, the representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his opinion on the matter, highlighting the importance of holding those accountable for the violent and anarchic demonstrations that have caused distress and harm in the communication world.
The memorandum pointed out the alarming and violent nature of the incidents during the demonstration, where a journalist lost his life and others were subjected to organized attacks. The Press Conference of Nepal emphasized the need to swiftly initiate legal proceedings against the culprits to ensure justice and deter such heinous acts in the future.
In addition to demanding action against those responsible, the Press Conference of Nepal also urged the government to provide justice, relief, and support to the family of the deceased journalist. The memorandum also brought attention to the violation of media ethics and democratic principles by certain media outlets and called for accountability in disseminating misinformation and inciting violence.
Furthermore, the Press Conference of Nepal appealed to the television industry and media authorities to ensure the safety and rights of journalists, in compliance with the law, by holding them accountable for providing adequate services and support to journalists in need.
In response to the tragic incident involving the death of the journalist, the Press Conference of Nepal reiterated the importance of upholding media ethics and ensuring the safety and well-being of journalists in the field. The memorandum stressed the need for the media industry to act responsibly and in accordance with the law to prevent such incidents from recurring.
