The Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist) has sparked controversy in the Koshi Province with its stance on identity issues, leading to a heated discussion at the provincial committee’s assembly. The province committee is set to convene its first assembly on the 26th and 27th of Chaitra in Sunsari to address the identity crisis observed in the region’s nomenclature.
During the assembly, the party’s Central Secretary and the coordinator of the Koshi Province assembly, Baldev Chaudhary, highlighted the need to resolve the identity crisis through discussions among representatives from 14 districts, emphasizing the importance of finding a middle-ground solution.
In addition to the selection of new leadership, the assembly will focus on long-term development plans for the province, strategies for resolving public issues, and evaluating the organizational structure. Approximately 700 representatives from various unions and grassroots organizations across the 14 districts in the province are expected to participate in the assembly.
Opinion from Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News: “The upcoming assembly in the Koshi Province holds significant importance as it addresses pressing identity issues in the region. It is commendable that the party is actively engaging with representatives to find constructive solutions, reflecting a commitment to addressing the concerns of the local population.”
