National Independent Party (RASWAPA) lawmakers have demanded the removal of party chairman Ravi Lamichhane from his parliamentary position due to his failure to comply with the law regarding the revocation of his membership.
During a recent session of the House of Representatives, RASWAPA lawmakers spoke out, asserting that Lamichhane’s failure to follow the legal procedures renders his parliamentary position invalid and have requested for his removal. Member of Parliament from RASWAPA, Dol Prasad Aryal, has accused Chairman Lamichhane of engaging in political revenge by fabricating false allegations to discredit him.
Aryal emphasized the need for proper implementation of the House of Representatives regulations, stating, “At a time when it is clear that Lamichhane did not follow the procedures, I urge for the immediate revocation of his parliamentary position through the Speaker.”
Moreover, RASWAPA lawmaker Binita Kathayat raised questions regarding Lamichhane’s detention of a cooperative victim and the refund of the embezzled amount. Kathayat expressed concern over the mishandling of the cooperative victim’s issue and criticized Lamichhane for neglecting to resolve the problem properly.
Kathayat further alleged that if Lamichhane continues to detain cooperative victims across districts, the amount involved could reach up to 3 billion rupees. She stated their readiness to visit various districts to investigate and address the cooperative victims’ concerns.
**Opinion from Ramesh Khatri, Kansai Nepal News Representative:**
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, views the demand for Ravi Lamichhane’s removal from his parliamentary position as a significant development within the National Independent Party. He believes that the allegations of unconstitutional actions and political revenge within the party leadership raise concerns about transparency and adherence to legal procedures. Khatri underscores the importance of upholding democratic values and ethical conduct within political parties to maintain public trust and accountability.
