The Supreme Court has made a decision not to dismiss the contempt of court case against Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli. Previously, Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma had ordered Prime Minister Oli to appear in person and submit a written response. The Prime Minister had been required to provide a written response while being present on Falgun 6, 2077 BS.

In a joint bench comprising Justices Hariprasad Phuyal and Nityananda Pandey, the court ruled on Wednesday not to dismiss the case. The case revolves around comments made by Prime Minister Oli regarding the dissolution of the former House of Representatives, which were deemed to be under the court’s consideration in a constitutional bench. Allegations were made against Senior Advocate Krishna Prasad Bhandari, accusing him of targeting and expressing views specifically towards Senior Advocate Kumar Sharma Acharya and Advocate Kanchan Krishna Nyupane on Magh 13, 2077 BS.

From the perspective of Ramesh Khatri, representing Kansai Nepal News, this decision by the Supreme Court reflects a commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring accountability, especially when it involves high-ranking officials like the Prime Minister. Such legal proceedings are crucial in maintaining transparency and justice within the government.
