The Public Accounts Committee has decided to send a letter to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) based on the study report regarding the construction of the Pokhara Regional International Airport. This decision was made during the committee meeting held on Wednesday.

Rajendrakumar Kesi, a member of the committee, shared that the committee deemed it necessary to investigate and take action on the issues highlighted in the study report. Previously, a subcommittee was formed under the coordination of Rajendra Lingden to conduct a thorough investigation into the irregularities observed in the construction of the airport.

Based on the report presented in mid-May, the subcommittee has directed the CIAA to take necessary legal actions if any wrongdoing is found during further study and research. Additionally, the subcommittee has informed that they will provide information to the committee once they have concrete details on any misconduct.

The subcommittee has also indicated that if any individuals are found guilty after further investigation and analysis based on the report submitted in mid-May, legal actions will be taken against them. The committee will formally communicate this information to the CIAA for appropriate actions.

Opinion from Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News: “The decision of the Public Accounts Committee to escalate the matter to the CIAA demonstrates a commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in the construction of the Pokhara Regional International Airport. It is crucial that any irregularities are thoroughly investigated and addressed to uphold public trust and the integrity of the project.”
