The Delhi Capitals secured their third consecutive victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament by defeating the Chennai Super Kings by 25 runs in a match held on Saturday. This win placed Delhi at the top of the points table with six points from three matches.
In the game, played at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 183 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. KL Rahul played a crucial innings of 77 runs, supported by Abhishek Sharma who contributed 33 runs. Additionally, captain Shreyas Iyer added 21 runs, Sam Billings scored 20, and Marcus Stoinis remained unbeaten with 24 runs. For Chennai, Khaleel Ahmed took two wickets, while Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, and Ravindra Jadeja claimed one wicket each.
Chasing a target of 184 runs, Chennai Super Kings could only manage to score 158 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their 20 overs. Vijay Shankar top-scored with an unbeaten 69-run innings, but it was not enough to secure a win for his team. Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored 30 runs, Shivam Dube added 18 runs, and Devdutt Padikkal contributed 13 runs. For Delhi, Avesh Khan took two wickets, while Chris Woakes, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mukesh Kumar picked up one wicket each.
With this victory, Delhi Capitals now lead the points table with 6 points from 3 matches, while Chennai Super Kings are placed eighth with 2 points from 4 matches.
