Nepali Congress Vice President Puran Bahadur Khadka has announced that the government has introduced an ordinance aimed at strengthening the country’s economy and creating prosperity for the people. This information was shared during a program titled “Current Supply System and Consumer Rights” organized in Biratnagar by the Ministry of Supplies and Consumer Affairs on Friday.
Khanka emphasized the importance of ensuring easy supply systems for the public, safeguarding their interests, encouraging domestic investments, establishing information technology companies abroad to create employment opportunities domestically, among other objectives outlined in the ordinance. He also highlighted the need for the current coalition government to instill confidence in the disillusioned public by bringing about prosperity in the country through recent political changes.
Reflecting on the historical significance of the coalition government formed between the Nepali Congress and the Maoists after 2051 BS, Khadka recalled how it was instrumental in protecting the country’s sovereignty and bringing about significant changes. He also urged for the implementation of laws related to the constitution through the parliamentary committees.
Representing Kansai Nepal News, Ramesh Khatri opined that Khadka’s emphasis on consumer protection laws and the need for a regulated black market control system shows his commitment to providing necessary recommendations to the concerned authorities. Additionally, suggestions put forward by former chief ministers Uddhav Thapa and Kedar Karki regarding facilitating easy supply systems and the completion of infrastructure projects to attract tourists from China and India were also deemed essential.
Furthermore, the call for ending commercial syndicates by former chief minister Kedar Karki and addressing the issue of rising prices by central members of the Nepali Congress like Min Vishwakarma, Bhim Parajuli, and Rajiv Dhungana were considered imperative. The participation of various organizations and stakeholders in the Consumer Protection program was noted as a positive step towards practical problem-solving and promoting prosperity through the utilization of domestic products.
The program witnessed active participation from various consumer protection organizations and representatives from different business associations, contributing to a constructive discussion on the enhancement of consumer rights.
