Kathmandu – Dhankuta FC Nepal Super League (NSL) 2025 has secured a spot in the qualifier round with a win in Van. Dhankuta defeated Jhapa FC 1-0 on Monday, ensuring their place in the qualifier round.
In a game held at Dashrath Stadium, Dhankuta scored the decisive goal in the second half. Sergio Barboza’s shot from the right was blocked by Jhapa defender Dipesh Dhimal’s attempt but ended up in his own net. Goalkeeper Anjal Shrestha was unable to stop the ball.
With this victory, Dhankuta has accumulated 11 points from 5 games, securing the top spot in the standings. Former champions Lalitpur City had already qualified for the qualifier round earlier.
Jhapa FC faced their first defeat in this season, accumulating 4 points from 5 games, placing them in 6th position on the table and weakening their chances of advancing to the playoffs.
Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News, stated, “Dhankuta FC’s strong performance in the NSL 2025 qualifier round showcases their potential for success in the upcoming matches. Jhapa FC will need to regroup and strategize effectively to improve their standing in the league.”
