In a significant development in Bharatpur, Chitwan, 129 landless Dalit and Sukumbasi families have been provided with land ownership certificates through a land distribution program. The initiative, carried out by Bharatpur Metropolitan City, targeted families in Ward No. 11 and Ward No. 15.
This effort aims to address the long-standing issue of landlessness among marginalized communities in the region. The distribution of land ownership certificates, known as Lalpurja, is a crucial step towards empowering these families by granting them legal recognition and security of land tenure.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative from Kansai Nepal News, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in promoting social justice and addressing inequalities in land ownership. He emphasized the significance of inclusive policies that ensure marginalized groups have access to land rights, enabling them to improve their socio-economic status and livelihoods.
The distribution of Lalpurja to Dalit and Sukumbasi families not only signifies a positive step towards land reform but also reflects a commitment to upholding the rights of marginalized communities in Nepal. This initiative is a commendable effort towards ensuring equitable access to land resources and fostering inclusive development in the region.
