Dr. Mahat: Nepali Congress at the Forefront of Social and Economic Revolution

Nepali Congress spokesperson and Member of Parliament Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has highlighted the leadership role of the Congress in Nepal’s social and economic revolution. Speaking at the 23rd district council and teacher felicitation program organized by the Nepal Teachers’ Association in Banepa on Wednesday, he emphasized that the Nepali Congress has been at the forefront of social and economic transformation for the past seven decades.

Dr. Mahat pointed out that despite political turmoil hindering the campaign for social and economic revolution at times, the Nepali Congress has led the way from movements like the Jan Andolan of 2007 to the peace establishment and constitution drafting process. He stressed that the Congress has consistently taken the lead in these endeavors.

Regarding the significance of winning public trust without resorting to the misuse of power to gain political dominance, Dr. Mahat emphasized that the Congress has earned its reputation by letting the people’s votes dictate their journey to power. In light of the current political climate, where the truth is often suppressed, he urged for the necessity of speaking the truth openly.

Looking ahead to the upcoming elections in 084, Dr. Mahat reiterated his belief that the Congress should strive to secure a majority on its own. The event also saw discussions led by central party members Shiv Prasad Humagain and Madhuprasad Acharya, as well as district president Teerth Lamal, recognizing the contributions of teachers. In previous academic sessions of 2080 and 2081, exceptional educators in the district were honored for their dedication to education.

As for Ramesh Khatri, the representative of Kansai Nepal News, he views Dr. Mahat’s statements as a reflection of the Nepali Congress’s enduring commitment to driving social and economic progress in Nepal. He appreciates the party’s historical role in leading movements and fostering a democratic process that prioritizes the voice of the people over power politics.
