“Durga Prasai secures release by paying three lakh rupees bail.”

In a recent legal development in Kathmandu, Nepal, medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai has been acquitted on bail of three lakh rupees by the district court. The release came after Prasai settled the bail amount and was informed about it by his relative Shreshtedar Ram Sharma on a Friday. Following a heated debate, Judge Thakur Prasad Kharel ordered the bail request. Additionally, his associates Hari Chand Fuwani and Ram Chandra Mainali were also summoned as co-defendants in the case for failing to settle the bail amount as instructed by the district court.

Prasai himself was embroiled in a criminal case for allegedly benefiting from organized crime involving three others. As per the Central Investigation Bureau’s report in Poush, the district government attorney’s office had registered the case. Moreover, Mahaprasad Adhikari from Nepal Rastra Bank was also threatened by Prasai, leading to a separate case against him. Previously, businessmen Pawan Golyan and Deependra Agrawal had also filed complaints against Prasai. In addition to these charges, there is a pending cybercrime case against Prasai currently under the consideration of the district court.
