Koshi Pradesh’s Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki has emphasized significant efforts in the development of tourism infrastructure in the region. The inauguration of the ‘Eastern Travel Mart’ in Aampachhi, Itahari, over three days starting on Sunday, marked the beginning of what he described as a meaningful step towards economic prosperity, with tourism becoming a primary foundation for growth in the area. He highlighted the government’s attention towards enhancing the country’s economic prosperity and development, prioritizing Koshi Pradesh’s overall development through strategic planning.
Collaboration with local authorities to increase tourist arrivals in the region’s attractive tourist destinations has been a priority for the provincial government. The ongoing initiative is a joint effort between the Nepal Tourism Board, Koshi Pradesh government, and Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City, with plans to run the mart until the 27th of this month.
During the mart’s inauguration ceremony, Secretary Vasudeva Baral mentioned the presence of foreign tourists from countries like India, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. He also shared that the program will include visits to various tourist sites in the region within a specific timeframe.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his positive opinion on the efforts of Chief Minister Karki and the provincial government in promoting tourism development in Koshi Pradesh. He commended the collaborative approach taken to boost tourism and economic growth in the region, emphasizing the potential benefits for both local communities and the overall development of the area.
