In a recent development, the police in Kathmandu have apprehended eight individuals on allegations of involvement in a robbery. Among those captured are Anish Keshi, a 24-year-old residing in Thamel, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26; Vivek Mall Thakuri, 25 years old from Harkapur, Nagarkot Municipality-2; Sandip Pariyar, 23 years old from Devchuli Municipality-16; Atit Kshetri, 25 years old from Bharatpur Metropolitan City-18; Sandip Vik, 24 years old from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-11; Badal Tamang, 22 years old from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-10; Sakriya Khan, 19 years old from Lamjung; and Kabita Rai, 24 years old from Sunsari Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-17.
The arrests were made in connection with an incident at Room No. 402 of Hotel Men’s in Kalanki, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14. The suspects allegedly entered the room, claimed to be police officers, instilled fear in the victims, physically assaulted them, and threatened them in various ways. They reportedly coerced the victims into transferring money to bank accounts and e-wallets and managed to steal a total of NPR 363,000 in cash.
Based on this information, the Kathmandu Valley’s Crime Investigation Bureau at Teku, acting on a tip-off, arrested the individuals involved in the crime. Additionally, the police seized a motorcycle with the registration number Bagmati Pradesh 02-053 P 9878 and cash amounting to NPR 52,000 from the suspects.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed concern over the increasing incidents of robbery and urged authorities to take strict action against such criminal activities to ensure the safety and security of citizens.
