Embarking on Arun’s Pathway: Construction Journey Begins

In Kimathanka, the construction of a 163-megawatt hydropower project with an upstream reservoir has begun, located in the Bhotechaur Rural Municipality. The construction work includes building a 21-kilometer access road leading up to the dam site. The acquisition of land for the construction of the access road has already commenced.

The Arun Hydropower Project is anticipated to significantly contribute to the region’s energy needs once completed. This project is a crucial step towards harnessing Nepal’s hydropower potential and meeting the growing demand for electricity in the country.

Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed optimism about the economic and developmental benefits that the Arun Hydropower Project will bring to the local community. He highlighted the importance of such infrastructure projects in enhancing the region’s energy security and promoting sustainable development.

With the commencement of the access road construction, the Arun Hydropower Project is progressing steadily towards its completion, marking a significant milestone in Nepal’s efforts to strengthen its hydropower sector and achieve energy self-sufficiency.
