“EMBBS Studies at Madhes Health Science Institute from 25th December”

Janakpurdham, located in the Madhesh Province, is set to commence the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program at the Madhesh Institute of Health Sciences under the jurisdiction of the Madhesh Province government starting from the 25th of Poush.

The initiation of the MBBS program signifies an elevation in the physical infrastructure, procurement of additional specialized equipment, establishment of dedicated laboratories, and the management of obstetrics for various faculties. Dr. Ankur Sah, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, highlighted that the students recommended by the Medical Education Commission for scholarship funding have successfully completed the enrollment process.

This institution stands as the first educational establishment in the Madhesh Province where the MBBS program is conducted under governmental auspices. The institution has confirmed that the registration for those interested in pursuing MBBS studies will be open until the 24th of the upcoming month.

The current curriculum at the institution encompasses undergraduate studies in Nursing, Public Health, Medical Laboratory Technology, and postgraduate studies in Medicine across four specialized subjects. The MBBS program entails an intensive and extensive study period in medicine, commencing from the current academic session.

In a strategic decision made after the Province Council meeting, the institution was mandated to enhance the infrastructure, procure necessary equipment, expand hospital services, improve quality standards, and implement workforce management for the successful implementation of the MBBS program. Preparations for the operation of MBBS classes had already commenced.

In the previous month, the Medical Education Commission approved the institution to conduct MBBS classes, allocating a quota of 50 students. The commitment to initiate MBBS education in the Madhesh region was expressed based on the educational commitment of the governing party, led by Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh.

Dr. Sah, the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, outlined the arrangements made within the premises for MBBS education, including the setup of classrooms, student accommodations, and other facilities within the Janakpur hospital vicinity.

Significant advancements have been made in upgrading the foundational infrastructure for clinical studies, and a strong focus has been placed on teaching various subjects under the umbrella of basic medical science, such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, and Community Medicine.

With the commencement of MBBS education at the Janakpurdham-based institution, it is believed that positive transformations will occur in healthcare services, physician professional development, research in medical studies, and an overall enhancement of Janakpurdham’s academic reputation.
