Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli recently engaged in discussions with officials and representatives of the Nepali community in Spain during his visit to Madrid. The meeting took place following his participation in a financial conference organized by the United Nations for development in Seville, Spain. During the meeting, held at the residence of the Nepalese ambassador in Spain, members of the Nepali community expressed their warm welcome and respect for Prime Minister Oli, while also conveying their hopes for the success of Nepal’s development journey under his leadership.
Prime Minister Oli emphasized the importance of utilizing the knowledge, experience, and resources gained abroad towards the development and prosperity of Nepal upon his return to the country. He also urged for engagement in appropriate business ventures upon returning to Nepal. Furthermore, highlighting the cooperation between two major political parties for stability and development in the country, Prime Minister Oli hinted at a smooth transfer of power to the Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba in the future.
In the midst of challenging circumstances, Prime Minister Oli recalled his past efforts in ensuring political stability and longevity to reassure that he would continue to provide a smooth transition in the days to come. He also addressed that there were no significant issues or disputes within the current coalition and his party, ensuring transparency and unity.
Key figures present at the meeting included the Chief Adviser to the Prime Minister and Deputy Secretary-General of the ruling party, Vishnu Prasad Rimal, Nepalese Ambassador to Spain Shani Nepal, representatives from the Nepali community, the Secretary of the International Committee, and the head of the organization department, Hem Sherpa, Coordinator of the European Committee, Muktabahadur Gurung, President of the Nepali Community in Spain, Kedar Dhungana, Chairman of the Madrid Committee, Shivaraj Sigdel, and President of Portugal, Deepak Kshetri among others.
Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News, opined that this meeting signifies a positive step towards fostering collaboration and unity within the Nepali community in Spain and highlights the commitment of Prime Minister Oli towards utilizing international experiences for the betterment of Nepal.
