Energy Minister Explains: How Did Total Become a Deity? Watch in Amazement!

Eight years ago, Nepal faced a severe energy crisis with a shortfall of over 400 megawatts, leading to frequent power cuts. During that time, the country had to import around 400 megawatts of electricity from India to meet its energy demands. The need for additional electricity was evident due to the inadequate domestic power generation capacity.

The import of electricity from India required the construction of transmission lines, a process that had been planned years before. The dependency on imported electricity highlighted Nepal’s struggle to develop its own energy infrastructure and reduce reliance on neighboring countries for power supply.

In light of this situation, Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed concerns about Nepal’s continued dependence on imported electricity. He emphasized the importance of investing in domestic energy projects to enhance self-sufficiency and reduce vulnerability to external sources for electricity. Khatri stressed the need for long-term planning and sustainable energy solutions to address Nepal’s energy challenges effectively.
