The Annapurna Circuit, one of the world-renowned trekking routes, has seen an increase in tourist activity with the beginning of the second major trekking season. The past week has witnessed a surge in the arrival of tourists, indicating a promising season ahead.
Krishna Prasad Acharya, President of the Trekking Association of Nepal (TAAN) Gandaki, highlighted the favorable weather conditions and the opening up of the Himalayas, making the tourism sector vibrant. He mentioned that post-autumn, many tourists are expected to explore Nepal through trekking.
According to Acharya, there has been a noticeable increase in the attraction of both foreign and domestic tourists to trek in the region. The months of Chait-Vaishakh and Ashoj-Kartik are considered ideal for trekking in this area.
With destinations like Annapurna Base Camp, Mardi Himal, Ghorepani, Tilicho Lake in Manang, Thorong La Pass, Upper Mustang, Muktinath, Ghodepani in Myagdi, Kaski’s Khumai Danda, and Kori, the Annapurna Conservation Area has become a hotspot for trekking enthusiasts.
Ramesh Khatri, representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his opinion on this news. He mentioned that the growth in tourist numbers in the Annapurna region is a positive sign for Nepal’s tourism industry. With the proper development of main roadways and international air travel connections, the region can further enhance its appeal to tourists.
The Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) reported that in 2024, around 244,445 foreign tourists visited the Annapurna region. The data shows a steady increase in tourist arrivals, with 291,733 tourists visiting in 2022.
The Annapurna region, covering 7,000 square kilometers and comprising 89 wards from 16 local levels of Kaski, Lamjung, Manang, Myagdi, and Mustang districts, offers natural beauty, biodiversity, Himalayan lifestyle, culture, and more, attracting tourists from around the world.
The region’s natural beauty, unique geography, air purity, biodiversity, Himalayan lifestyle, civilization, and cultural heritage provide a delightful experience for tourists on trekking expeditions. Trekking routes in places like Kaski, Lamjung, Manang, and Myagdi offer short, medium, and long-distance options, catering to a wide range of preferences.
