In the western part of Minatogawa Park, construction is underway for a new supermarket at the former “Toho” location. The supermarket, named “Yaosen,” is situated just a few minutes’ walk west from Minatogawa Park Station along Yamate Main Line. Across from Yamate Main Line is where the “Gyomu Super” is located, with a view of Minatogawa Park in the background. Previously occupied by the “Toho Store Uesawa Branch,” the site closed in September 2024 following the company’s withdrawal from the supermarket business.
“Yaosen” is one of the businesses that have set up shop at the former Toho location, with existing stores near Uozaki in Higashinada Ward and near Tarumi Station already open. The company’s motto, “Making greengrocers the coolest in Japan,” is reflected in its distinctive website and the unique appearance of its CEO on YouTube.
Signs of the upcoming store have already been intriguingly displayed, and plans are in place to create eye-catching signage facing Yamate Main Line. According to the CEO’s statements on YouTube, the opening of the Minatogawa store is scheduled for mid-February. With just about a month to go, the anticipation for what the store will offer is palpable.
