Located on the 9th floor of Sannomiya Center Plaza in Kobe, the “KOBE Co CREATION CENTER” will be hosting an event called “KOBE Academic Talk,” where young researchers will present and network. The upcoming 5th edition of the event, titled “The Power to Protect the Mind and the Community – Building a Sustainable Society through Disaster Prevention Education and Psychology,” will take place on January 23, 2025, at the KOBE Co CREATION CENTER.

This event, which has been held four times previously, focuses on exploring strategies to support individual mental and physical health from the perspectives of disaster prevention, interpersonal relationships, and workplace environment. The theme of this edition underscores the importance of collaboration between communities and workplaces to establish the foundation of a sustainable society.

The distinguished speakers for the event include Jito Kawata, a lecturer at the Center for Higher Education Research and Development at Kansai International University; Mami Numata, a lecturer in the Department of Psychology; and Akira Itayama, an associate professor in the Department of Psychology. They will deliver presentations covering topics such as disaster prevention education, psychological resilience, and workplace issues from a psychological standpoint.

Participants can expect a thought-provoking discussion on how to enhance the resilience of communities and workplaces, ultimately contributing to the creation of a sustainable society. The event will also feature a networking session, providing attendees with the opportunity to engage with the speakers and fellow participants.

For those interested in attending, registration is free and open to a maximum of 30 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. This event offers a valuable opportunity for individuals seeking to exchange ideas with young researchers and those interested in university research.
