The second day of the Janakpur Literature Festival saw in-depth discussions and analyses on various topics. The first session focused on the challenges and opportunities in Janakpur Dham. Speakers emphasized the need for structural improvements and long-term planning to restore the ancient significance of Janakpur Dham. Vrishesh Chandra Lal, the chairman of the Tarai-Madhes Democratic Party, highlighted the importance of revitalizing the city through strategic development and sustained planning.
Additionally, Bajrang Prasad Sah, the former mayor of Janakpur Dham, stressed the necessity of political will and unified efforts for the city’s economic and social development. Manoj Kumar Sah, the mayor of Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City, expressed his commitment to enhancing the city’s potential through community participation and collaboration with government bodies to ensure prosperity.
In another session, the impact of the digital age on reading culture and traditions was explored. Ram Ashish Yadav, a member of the Provincial Assembly of Madhes, discussed how easy access to the internet limits the depth of knowledge among youth but acknowledged that proper utilization of digital technology could lead to profound learning experiences.
Dr. Surendra Labh highlighted the economic aspects of digital reading, noting how it has altered the demand for physical books and publications while increasing the use of digital content in commercial settings. Dr. Manchala Jha emphasized the need for educational reforms to preserve reading culture in the digital era and enhance learning by integrating technology.
The third session focused on the theme “Cricket: Problems, Solutions, and Opportunities,” delving into the current status, challenges, and future prospects of Nepali cricket. Former executives of the Nepal Cricket Association, Bhawana Ghimire, Central Working Committee member Sudip Sharma, and investor of Biratnagar Kings Suyash Pyakurel shared their insights on the sport’s development.
Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, viewed the Janakpur Literature Festival as a platform that not only celebrates literature but also serves as a catalyst for critical discussions on cultural heritage, technological advancements, and sports development. He commended the diverse range of topics covered during the festival, emphasizing the importance of such events in fostering intellectual discourse and societal progress.
