“Free Earthquake Preparedness Workshop for Families at Harborland with Stage Events”

In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, an educational event titled “Disaster Preparedness Event” will be held, focusing on the importance of earthquake preparedness for families.

Scheduled for January 13, 2025, at the Kobe Harborland Space Theater in Kobe City, the event aims to engage both parents and children in learning about earthquake preparedness. Participants can expect a diverse range of activities, including interactive experiences and stage performances designed to educate families on how to effectively prepare for earthquakes.

The interactive activities will feature engaging experiences such as the “Disaster Hero Recruitment Test,” a simulated earthquake experience with a VR simulator, and a workshop where families can create their own disaster preparedness kits. These hands-on experiences provide a fun and informative way for families to understand the importance of being prepared for earthquakes.

On the stage, visitors will be treated to the “Disaster Science Show,” a disaster quiz for families, storytelling sessions by earthquake survivor “Yoshihiro Ohama,” and even a photo session area with local mascots and Kumamon. Additionally, a special talk event titled “Let’s Talk Now: About Earthquakes and Post-Earthquake Scenarios” featuring renowned personalities such as actor Saeki Ai, long-time disaster survivor advocate Yoshihiro Ohama, and Japan Insurance Association Chairman Hiroaki Jyoda will offer insights into earthquake preparedness based on their experiences.

The event will run from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and is free to attend. With a wide array of activities planned, including exhibitions, workshops, quizzes, and informative talks, the event promises to be an enlightening and engaging opportunity for families to learn about disaster preparedness while having fun.
