The Ministry of Health and Population has recently made public the details of services that citizens can avail of free of charge. The ministry has disclosed information regarding the free services available, the targeted groups eligible for these services, and the locations where these services can be accessed.
In addition to providing details on its website about the free services and the additional documentation required, the ministry has also made this information public. Under the free healthcare services, the ministry has been offering various treatments for conditions such as neurological disorders, heart diseases, cancer, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, spinal injuries, head injuries, sickle cell anemia, and burn injuries to patients in different age groups.
Health and Population Minister Pradeep Poudel had previously emphasized the need for transparency and ensuring that citizens have access to information about the free treatments available to them. Minister Poudel stated, “Our desire is that citizens have access to all information and services without any difficulty. We have established a system to make information easily accessible to everyone in the absence of information.”
Furthermore, Minister Poudel had expressed the intention to implement a system where information related to service charges at federal hospitals and medical colleges would be available on websites and displayed in hospitals for everyone to see.
**Opinion from Ramesh Khatri, Kansai Nepal News:** Ramesh Khatri, representing Kansai Nepal News, appreciates the Ministry of Health and Population’s initiative to provide transparent information about free healthcare services to the public.
