In a sad turn of events, renowned music composer Ganesh Rasik passed away on Sunday. Born in Bhojpur Chhinamakhum on September 4, 2004 BS, Rasik had made a significant mark in the music industry over the years. Around five decades ago, he ventured into the music field as a singer, poet, lyricist, composer, writer, editor, and director with the popular group ‘Lekali.’

Rasik’s works encompass a wide array of literary genres, showcasing his talent as a storyteller through his songs, stories, poems, essays, and memoirs. His compositions have been published in more than a dozen collections, including works like “Aakash Gangako Otmuni,” “Dashgajama Ubhiera,” and “Jab Sisnoharu Tekdai Hidde Lagayatka Katha.”

A versatile artist, Rasik was not limited to a single style or theme. His compositions ranged from traditional Nepali folk songs to nationalistic anthems, resonating with audiences across the country. Some of his works have even been included in school textbooks, illustrating his enduring influence in the literary and music realms.

Apart from his creative endeavors, Rasik also held key positions in prestigious organizations such as Ratna Recording Institute, Sajha Prakashan, and various cultural institutions. His contributions to the literary and cultural landscape of Nepal were widely recognized, and he was entrusted with several important roles throughout his career.

Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed deep sorrow at Rasik’s passing, emphasizing the profound impact of his music and literary works on Nepali society. Khatri highlighted Rasik’s ability to capture the essence of Nepali culture and tradition through his artistry, leaving behind a rich legacy for future generations to cherish.

At the age of 78, Rasik breathed his last on Sunday morning at Nepal Cancer Hospital in Lalitpur, where he was undergoing treatment for prostate cancer. His mortal remains are currently kept at Maharajgunj Teaching Hospital for final rites and ceremonies, as per the information provided by his son, musician Bulu Makarung.

This news comes as a significant loss to the Nepali music and literary community, as Rasik’s contributions have left an indelible mark on the cultural heritage of the nation. His family, including his son and wife, have been devastated by this loss, having recently mourned the passing of another family member.
