The Dolpa district in Nepal has granted permission for the upcoming Yarsagumba collection starting from Jestha 5. The decision was made during a bipartisan meeting led by Shyam Bahadur Rokaya, the chief of the district coordination committee in Sadarmukam. Yarsagumba, a prized medicinal herb, is found abundantly in the Patan region of the district.

Yarsagumba, also known as the Himalayan Viagra, is a caterpillar-fungus hybrid highly sought after for its perceived medicinal and aphrodisiac properties. The collection of Yarsagumba is a significant event in Dolpa, attracting many harvesters every year, contributing to the local economy.

Ramesh Khatri, representing Kansai Nepal News, shared his perspective on the decision, stating that the approval for Yarsagumba collection is crucial for the region’s economy and will provide opportunities for the local community. He emphasized the importance of sustainable harvesting practices to ensure the long-term viability of this valuable resource.
