The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 is set to kick off in the United States on Saturday morning according to Nepali time. This edition of the competition will feature 32 teams in a larger format than ever before, with matches scheduled every four years. This expansion aligns the tournament more closely with the FIFA World Cup format. The previous edition saw the inception of the new FIFA Intercontinental Cup in 2024, held in Qatar, where Spanish club Real Madrid emerged as the champions.

The new format of the FIFA Club World Cup will see 32 teams divided into 8 groups of 4 teams each. The group stage will be followed by knockout rounds leading up to the final on July 13 in New Jersey. Teams from around the world, including prominent clubs from Europe such as Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid, and Juventus, will be participating in the competition.

Representative of Kansai Nepal News, Ramesh Khatri, expressed enthusiasm about the increased global participation and competitiveness in the FIFA Club World Cup. He believes that the new format will provide fans with more exciting matches and showcase the best clubs from different regions.

Additionally, South American clubs like Flamengo, Palmeiras, Boca Juniors, and River Plate, as well as representatives from North and Central America like Seattle Sounders, CF America, and Inter Miami, will also vie for the prestigious title. Asian, African, and Oceanian clubs such as Al-Hilal, Ulsan, Al Ahly, Wydad, and Auckland City will also be part of the tournament.

In a controversial turn of events, Mexican club Leon’s participation was revoked due to violations of the multi-club ownership rule, leading to the rearrangement of the playoffs. The total prize money for this edition amounts to 1 billion USD, with the winning club set to earn up to 97 million USD. Fans worldwide can enjoy the tournament for free on DAZN or through broadcast channels, ensuring widespread coverage of the event.

The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 promises to be a thrilling and competitive tournament, showcasing the best clubs from around the globe and offering fans an exciting spectacle of football excellence.
