“Getting Old Nilkantha on UNESCO World Heritage List – A Step Forward”

Kathmandu – Budhanilkantha Municipality has initiated the preliminary process to have the Vishnu Gupta’s palace, constructed in the second century in Budhanilkantha-3, listed in the UNESCO World Heritage site. The municipality has taken the first steps towards this by applying for inclusion in the UNESCO’s list of world heritage sites, which is dedicated to preserving sites of cultural, educational, scientific, and historical significance.

The Vishnu Gupta’s palace holds immense historical and cultural value, dating back to the second century. The municipality’s move to seek recognition from UNESCO signifies the importance of preserving and promoting such significant landmarks that hold a key place in the country’s heritage.

Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his views on this development, stating that the initiative taken by Budhanilkantha Municipality is commendable. He emphasized the need to protect and promote Nepal’s rich cultural heritage, and believes that gaining UNESCO World Heritage status for Vishnu Gupta’s palace would not only bring international recognition but also boost tourism and cultural exchange in the region.
