In Kathmandu, the District Police Office has initiated an investigation into the embezzlement case of the Swarnalaxmi Multipurpose Cooperative located in Kalimati. Today, they have submitted their report to the District Government Attorney’s Office in Kathmandu.
The report includes a recommendation to prosecute 44 individuals, including the Chairman of the National Independent Party (Rashapa), Ravi Lamichhane, for their alleged involvement in the scam. The spokesperson of the premises, along with the Police Inspector Navaraj Adhikari, confirmed that after extensive research, the police have now submitted the report.
According to the police, the report demands the seizure of assets worth over NPR 1.9 billion from the accused. It was also revealed that 44 individuals have been arrested in connection with the Swarnalaxmi embezzlement case, with evidence indicating organized financial fraud.
The District Government Attorney’s Office in Kathmandu plans to study the investigative report and proceed with the prosecution process. This development signifies a significant step towards addressing financial crimes and ensuring accountability within cooperative institutions.
