In Kathmandu, a meeting between the government and the Nepal Teachers’ Association at the Ministry of Education has concluded. The Ministry of Education has stated that they are not willing to immediately disclose the details of the agreement reached in the meeting. A member of the Ministry of Education’s secretariat mentioned that the discussions held in the meeting will be internally reviewed before being made public tomorrow.

During the meeting, a delegation led by the Deputy Chairperson of the Teachers’ Association, Nanumaya Parajuli, and a team representing the government including Education Minister Vidya Bhattarai, participated. The Teachers’ Association has been carrying out protests in Kathmandu since March 20. They have been advocating for dialogue and demonstrations to advance their cause. On Saturday, they staged a demonstration from Myitighar to Bijuli Bazaar Pulchowk, occupying the road.

The teachers involved in the protest were demonstrating only on the main road when they attempted to occupy three lanes today, leading to some clashes with the police.

Ramesh Khatri, representing Kansai Nepal News, expressed his view on the situation, stating that it is crucial for both the government and the Teachers’ Association to engage in constructive dialogue to address the issues at hand and find a mutually beneficial solution for all parties involved.
