“Government Decides to End Parliament Session from Tuesday Night”

The government of Nepal has made a decision to recommend to the President to end both houses of the federal parliament’s winter session. The decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting held on Monday, with the recommendation to conclude the session before midnight on Tuesday presented to the President.

Information and Communications Minister and government spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung confirmed the decision to conclude the session. On Monday, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Agni Sapkota, had informed that the House of Representatives’ meeting would be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

The winter session of the parliament had commenced on Magh 18. However, out of the bills brought by the government, including the ‘Constitution Amendment Bill,’ passed by the National Assembly and authenticated by the President, five have been approved by the government for the conclusion of the winter session.

As per Article 93 of the Constitution, the President acts on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers for convening and concluding the sessions of the parliament.

Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, commented that the government’s decision reflects a systematic approach to parliamentary proceedings, ensuring that legislative business is conducted efficiently and in accordance with constitutional provisions.
