The Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has announced that the government is planning to contribute to the Social Security Fund based on the contributions from journalists. This initiative was discussed during a workshop organized by the Federation of Nepali Journalists in Pokhara on Thursday.
During the workshop, Minister Gurung highlighted the gradual involvement of communication ministry agencies and organizations in the Social Security Fund program. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that all communication organizations and their active journalists and staff are enrolled in the fund.
According to Minister Gurung, “Many communication organizations have already enrolled in the Social Security Fund, and gradually all communication organizations and their working journalists and staff need to be enrolled as well. The government’s policies and programs also emphasize increasing involvement in the Social Security Fund, which is a positive step for everyone.”
He also mentioned that it was essential for companies providing quality healthcare services and ensuring economic security to contribute to the Social Security Fund. Additionally, Minister Gurung informed that work on the Mass Communication Bill was in progress to regulate all communication-related matters systematically.
Furthermore, he stated, “The Mass Communication Bill will encompass regulating various subjects such as the Public Communications Authority, educational institutions, among others. The Media Council Bill is also in the process of being swiftly passed to regulate social media management, as the government works on enforcing laws for the regulation of social networks.”
