Ramesh Khatri, a representative of Kansai Nepal News, expressed his opinion on the situation. He acknowledged the necessity of widespread public awareness for disaster risk reduction. He emphasized the importance of advancing disaster-friendly settlements and infrastructure development as essential requirements in today’s scenario.

MP Pant further highlighted the importance of cooperative and coordinated efforts in disaster risk reduction and post-disaster recovery phases. She emphasized the need for the government to effectively implement policy programs focusing on prioritizing disaster response and making local authorities resilient and capable.

Addressing the issue of settlements encroaching upon rivers, canals, and water bodies, MP Pant stressed the urgency for the government to manage such settlements effectively. She called for a national debate to integrate and relocate vulnerable settlements facing various disasters, stating that achieving sustainable development goals is imperative.

In conclusion, MP Pant suggested that proactive measures such as budget allocation based on disaster risk reduction priorities and promoting eco-friendly afforestation practices are crucial steps in disaster risk reduction efforts. The need for managing diverse settlements prone to various disasters through a unified national approach was also emphasized.
