Former Finance Minister Gyandendra Bahadur Karki has expressed his views on the recently introduced budget, stating that it is realistic and implementable. During a meeting at the Parliament on Sunday, Karki highlighted the need for effective implementation of the budget brought forth by the government.

Karki emphasized the importance of not only changing the system occasionally but also ensuring tangible improvements in the lives of the people. He mentioned the growing voices questioning why development has not reached the country beyond the parliament. Karki stressed the necessity for all political parties to commit to long-term visions and plans for development, urging for stability in politics, policy coherence, strong leadership, and strategic planning for sustainable development.

Representing Kansai Nepal News, Ramesh Khatri commented on the news, stating that Karki’s emphasis on the long-term vision for development and the need for investment in sectors like energy, agriculture, and tourism is crucial for the country’s progress.

Karki also flagged concerns about the risks posed by focusing excessively on the ‘Tech and Pay’ sector in the budget, urging the Finance Minister to pay attention to this issue. Additionally, Tara Lama Tamang, a Member of Parliament from the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist), noted that the budget provides direction for the nation.

Tamang acknowledged the budget’s role in providing guidance for the nation, pointing out the importance of aligning proposed programs in the budget with the set objectives. She urged the Finance Minister to ensure the successful completion of the proposed programs outlined in the budget.
